"I believe everyone needs a coach, and I believe a great coach can change your life." Robbie Britt is that catalyst for countless leaders and teams. By day, he serves as Head Baseball Coach at Eastern Michigan, building a culture of discipline, resilience, and excellence. Beyond the field, he is a devoted husband and father. In boardrooms, locker rooms, and classrooms, Robbie challenges people to confront their limits, sharpen their systems, and elevate their impact. His mission is simple: create environments where leaders grow their people, and inspire teams to relentlessly pursue excellence every single day.

Yesterday, I was on a recruiting call with a transfer portal athlete. I always find these calls interesting and unique because everyone has a different journey to where they are. This young man had an especially unique path. He was incredibly mature, and faith driven. At the end of our conversation, he asked a question that stopped me in my tracks:

“What is something you feel called to do, that you haven’t been able to accomplish yet?”

It’s easy to list goals we’ve hit—championships, milestones, promotions. But that question wasn’t about achievements. It was about calling.

There is always something unfinished in us. A conversation we know we need to have. A vision we haven’t built yet. A dream that still feels too big or too risky to chase.

The Japanese concept of Ikigai teaches that purpose lives where four things overlap:

  • What we love
  • What we’re good at
  • What the world needs
  • What we can be paid for

When these intersect, we live with clarity. But clarity doesn’t mean comfort. Our purpose often sits just beyond what we’ve accomplished, beckoning us into unknown territory.

Leaders have a responsibility not just to chase their own calling, but to help others step into theirs. It’s our job to help spot the talent, name the potential, and remind people they are built for something bigger than their current circumstances.

What haven’t you done yet that you feel called to do?

Whatever it is, I believe something incredible is waiting on the other side of your courage.

Keep going.... keep pursuing...

Strive for Excellence,

RB
